Ordering Process
What will happen after I place my order?
After you place an order on our website, we will immediately get started on designing your pet's memorial. This process involves re-creating an exact scaled-down computer model of the pet memorial you've have chosen, as well as professionally editing your pet's photograph so it looks realistic and life-like once engraved on the granite stone.
This process typically takes 3 to 5 business days. And once your layout is ready, we will send it to you via email for you to review. At which point, you can either approve it or request revisions. We provide unlimited revisions at no extra charge. We will not proceed with the engraving until you are happy with the layout and until you approve and digitally sign the layout.
What will happen after I approve my layout?
Once you approve the layout that we made, your pet's memorial will enter the manufacturing phase, which typically takes 1 to 2 weeks.
In this phase, we will engrave your pet's memorial exactly as shown in the layout using our industrial "Diamond-Impact" CNC engraving machine. As well as treating the engraving with a weather resistant stain that keeps repels moisture and keeps the engraving readable even if it gets wet.
How long will it take before I get my pet memorial?
Typically, you can expect to receive your pet memorial within 3 to 4 weeks after placing your order. However, there are several factors that can affect the amount of time it takes for you to receive your pet memorial.
Our customers like to think about their layout before getting back to us with an approval or revisions requests. This back-and-forth can sometimes take a few days or a couple of weeks. Just remember, we can only engrave your pet's memorial once the layout has been approved.
Another factor is due to the heavy weight of natural granite, all of our pet memorials are shipped using ground shipping from our engraving facility in Ontario, Canada. Delivery typically takes place 1 to 5 business days after a pet memorial has been shipped, depending on how far away you live.
Customizations
What kind of photograph is best for engraving?
The higher the quality image you can provide, the better. We always advise our customers to provide us with the original photo that was taken, whether it be on your phone or camera.
The best option is to include the photograph with your order (you can select an image up to 50MB in size) or email it to us after placing your order.
With that said, we understand that not everyone has a high quality image of their pet. Please provide us with the best image you have, and we will do the best we can. Sometimes we can work miracles.
Can I request the use of a special font?
Absolutely! We offer 9 different font styles that are popular and we know to look great engraved on granite. However, if you wish for us to use a different font or if you have any other special requests, simply let us know during the customization process and we will design your pet's memorial according to your specifications.
A good resource to look for fonts online is FontSquirrel.com
Is there a maximum amount of words that can be engraved?
There is no limit. However, some pet memorial sizes will limit the amount of text that can be engraved. And if you with to have your pet's photograph engraved, it usually only leaves room for your pet's name, dates or birth and passing, and sometimes a short epitaph.
Keep in mind that the more text we add to the memorial, the smaller the text will need to be. We typically don't engrave text smaller than ½" high as it can become very hard to read.
With that said - if you wish to engrave a large amount of text, such as the rainbow bridge poem, we will do our best to accommodate your request.
Feel free to contact us before placing your order to get our expert opinion.
Can more than one pet be added to a memorial?
Absolutely! We can engrave as many names as you'd like on a single pet memorial. However, if you wish to have more than one photograph, then there will be a $30 professional photo editing fee for each additional photograph.
The reason is it can take us anywhere from 1 to 2 hours to professionally edit a single photograph so it looks realistic and life-like once engraved on the granite stone.
Please contact us if you'd like to place an order with multiple photographs on a single pet memorial.
Pet Memorials
Do you offer memorials in other colors than black?
Unfortunately, no. At this time, we only offer pet memorials that are in the "Jet Black" natural granite colour.
It is true that natural granite can be quarried in a variety of colours from various parts of the world, including gray, red, white, brown and green.
The problem is these granite colours don't give a lot of contrast with the engraving, which means that paint must be added to either highlight or darken the engraving. And over time, that paint eventually fades and the memorial becomes very hard to read.
"Jet Black" provides the highest contrast. Although we do add a little bit of highlight to the engraving, it is mainly used to seal and repel water from getting into the engraving. Once it fades, you will still be able to read the engraving, unlike the other colours of granite.
Do you keep all pet memorials in stock?
We try to keep a minimum inventory of each pet memorial style, however, they are sold on a first come, first served basis.
In the event that a specific pet memorial style is sold out (out of stock), then you will have the ability to join a waiting list and be instantly notified once it is back in stock. Visit the specific pet memorial's page and click on the notify button to join the waiting list.
Please note: it may take up to 3 months to replenish our inventory. This is because all of our pet memorials are made of 100% natural granite, and it must be quarried in other parts of the world. Due to the heavy weight of granite, it must be shipped by boat and it can take a long time.
You may contact us directly if you wish to inquire about when we might expect a specific pet memorial style.
Can the pet memorial be left outside year-round?
Absolutely! Our pet memorials are made of 100% natural granite that can be left outside year-round, even in the cold winters and hot summers.
In fact, our pet memorials are made of the same high-quality granite you would find in a cemetery headstone that are made to last for hundreds of years.
What is your warranty on the pet memorials?
We certify that our pet memorials are mare of 100% natural granite and chosen for their natural colour and appearance. They are free of defects that would render them unusable for memorial purposes.
They won't ever fade, warp, crack or change colour. In the event that it does, we will replace your pet memorial free of charge.
However, we cannot be held responsible if something were to happen to the pet memorial itself due to environmental factors beyond our control; such as a lawn mower, a rock or a shovel hitting the pet memorial.
With proper care and regular maintenance, our pet memorials will last a lifetime. They will look just as beautiful in five or ten years from now as the day you received it.
Shipping
Do you ship to Canada?
Of course! We are a Canadian engraving company based in Ontario and we have customers from all provinces.
Shipping within Canada costs about $25 Canadian dollars. However, it may cost more depending on the size and weight of your pet memorial, as well as how far away you are from our engraving facility.
Do you ship to the United States?
Absolutely! Although we are a Canadian engraving company, many of our customers are from the United States and we ship to the United States on a regular basis.
Shipping to the United States costs about $35 Canadian dollars. However, it may cost more depending on the size and weight of your pet memorial, as well as how far away you are from our engraving facility in Ontario, Canada.
Do you ship to other parts of the world?
At the moment, no. The problem is that granite is heavy and International shipping costs are extremely high.
If you are OK with shipping costs of over $100 Canadian dollars, then please contact us and we will get you a custom shipping quote.
Do you offer local pickup?
Absolutely! We offer local pick-up to any customer who prefers picking up their pet memorial in person. This option is enabled during the checkout process if your billing address is in Ontario, Canada.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all pickups are currently contactless. Once your pet memorial has been engraved, we will contact you to schedule a time for you to pick it up. Local pickup is available 7 days a week.
Why is shipping so expensive?
It's because our pet memorials are made of 100% natural granite. Granite is heavy and weighs on average 34 pounds per square foot (2" thick).
Shipping cost can vary greatly by memorial style and size, as they all have different weights. For example, a small Pet Paw Memorial weighs 13LBS while a Rustic Pet Memorial weigh 55LBS. That's a big difference, and the shipping companies charge us more the heavier the package becomes.
We don't markup our shipping costs. The amount you pay during checkout is what we pay to the shipping companies.
What if my pet memorial gets damaged during shipping?
We take every precautions against shipping damages by safely packaging your pet memorial in several protective layers of shock absorption foam.
However, in the unfortunate event that your package gets damaged during transport, please contact us immediately and email us photos of the damaged cardboard box as well as the damaged pet memorial. We will need to file a claim with the shipping company.
We will do everything in our power to make things right, even if that includes engraving and shipping you a new pet memorial.
Other
Do you offer refunds?
No. All sales are final and we do not offer refunds. This is because engraving a pet memorial is permanent and we cannot "undo" an engraving that was done to a stone.
To reduce the risk of mistakes, we provide a layout for approval before the engraving is done. This gives you an opportunity to double-check the spelling and dates, as well as look for any typos or grammatical mistakes.
NOTE: We are not responsible for any mistakes, should they occur. Unless the engraving doesn't match the approved layout, in which case, we will replace the pet memorial free of charge.
With that said - we understand that mistakes happen. If there was a mistake engraved on your pet's memorial, contact us and we'll work something out.
Do you engrave memorials for people?
Unfortunately, no. We only engrave memorials for pets. I would recommend that you visit a memorial dealer in your local area that can assist you with choosing the right memorial for your needs, and one that is in accordance with your local cemetery rules and regulations.
